Destressing During the Holidays

If you’re anything like us, you make the same pledge every year: to stress less and focus on enjoying this holiday season. But, it’s always easier said than done. This time of year, we all throw ourselves into cooking, shopping and entertaining and can pretty much guarantee our stress levels will go through the roof.

We know how it is, so we’ve put together a few tips to help keep you sane this holiday season, while still being able to enjoy yourself and get it all done.

1.     Get some exercise to keep your mind and emotions steady

It’s no secret that exercise boosts your endorphins, relieves stress and overall, makes you feel happier. Combined that with the mindfulness and meditation that the Fierce method offers, and exercise can be the perfect antidote a stressful holiday season. Even if you’re just going for a walk or getting in on the Denver Turkey Trot, schedule your holiday workouts and add them to your calendar so they don’t slip off or get pushed a side of other last-minute requests.

2.     Find time to give back

At some point in our lives, we can all use a helping hand. And, as it turns out, those you are lending your time and aide to, aren’t the only ones benefitting. Your volunteer efforts offer some personal health benefits, too. Recent research suggests, that when people do generous things for others, the positive emotions we experience can be more enduring and outlast the positive feeling we get from doing things for ourselves. Other studies have also linked volunteer work to lower blood pressure and a longer life span. If you’re really short on time, you can get a workout in and give back by participating in one of the donation-based classes at any of our three studios. Either way, you’re getting in on some self-care that is anything but selfish.

3.     Delegate

You don’t have to be the lone planner for the perfect holiday season. Let someone else do some of the shopping, cooking and wrapping. There are usually plenty of others who are willing and able to take on some of the holiday responsibility.

One of our biggest holiday stressors is keeping the family well-fed leading up to each holiday. We are so busy preparing for the coming holiday, we often don’t have time to prepare healthy meals, which are much-needed given all of the treats that are all part of the fun. Enlisting the help of local companies like Baby Fresh Organics, is perfect this time of year. They use only nutrient-dense, organic ingredients to make hand-made food for your littles in their Denver kitchen and deliver it same day, directly to your door. Better yet, their partner, SupperBell has larger entrees for the rest of the fam, too. Total game changer.

Just for our Fierce Fam and perfect for a busy Thanksgiving or Christmas week, Baby Fresh Organics and SupperBell are offering a promo code to try out your first meals. Use code fierce45bfo for 45% off your first baby value pack, and fierce45sb for 25% off your next SupperBell order.
