HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
-Wear as much or as little denim of your own design, recreate your favorite iconic denim look or simply snag an item off the rack of denim provided at your respective studio/gym.
-Donate via Venmo @gymdenim or campaign page www.coloradogives.org/gymdenim. Proceeds go towards the CCASA in support of the #metoo and #denimday movement.
DENIM DAY HISTORY:
Following a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court in 1998, wearing jeans on Denim Day during Sexual Violence Awareness month has become a symbol of protest against erroneous and destructive attitudes about sexual assault. The Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault (CCASA) hosts Colorado Denim Day in order to raise awareness, show support for survivors, and unite communities across Colorado in taking a stand against sexual violence. We are asking our fitness community members to make a social statement with their fashion by wearing denim to train and/or workout on this day as a visible means of protest against the misconceptions that surround sexual assault.
Participating fitness studios include: Compass Fitness, FlyKickboxing, Fierce45, High Ride, Hot Mamas Exercise, Pearl Street Fitness and Star Cycle (more to be announced)
If you cannot physically attend one of these studios on the 25th, please still proudly show your support by wearing denim or feel free to donate via one of the methods listed above.
